Who I am
My name is Meghan McCallum and I operate as a freelance translator in the United States. You may contact me in my capacity as the data controller through my contact form or via email at meghan@fr-en.com.
Why I process your personal data
I collect, store and use your personal data only to issue a quote, provide a translation or other language, writing, training, or consulting service that you request or to comply with legal requirements. Personal data collected may include your name, mailing address, email address, telephone number and ID or tax number. Personal data may also include special categories such as health information, but only if you send these data to me for the specific purpose of translating them. I do not use your personal data for marketing purposes.
Legal grounds
The legal basis for processing your data is to perform the services you request or to take necessary steps prior to fulfilling that request. This basis also applies if you provide me with a service.
The legal basis for processing special categories of personal data such as health information is your explicit consent for me to translate, revise or edit that information.
Who else receives your personal data
If I send a text for revision or editing to a colleague, that party is compliant with the EU General Data Protection Regulation like me.
For administrative purposes, other parties, including my accountant and the providers of my website and email hosting services, may have access to your personal data. All these parties are compliant with the EU General Data Protection Regulation like me, or in the case of US companies, are self-certified under the EU-U.S. and Swiss-U.S. Privacy Shield Frameworks.
How long I keep your personal data

For quotes, I delete all personal data after five years.

For services rendered, I keep personal data for five years to comply with tax obligations and, if it is embedded in a translation, for up to ten years to preserve the integrity of my personal translation resources.

For services received, I keep your personal data for five years for administrative purposes.
Your data access rights
You may contact me at any time to request a copy, rectification, or erasure of your personal data. I will take action without undue delay and in any event within one month of receipt of the request.
Your right to file a complaint
Should you have any concerns about how I process your personal data, please contact me. You also have the right to file a complaint with the supervisory authority in the United States or in the country where you live.
